Baseball Broke Program Record For Team Home Runs in Win Over Northeastern

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware baseball team broke the program record for most team home runs in a single game with 10, as it defeated Northeastern by a score of 14-11 on Sunday at Bob Hannah Stadium.
The previous record was set back on May 8, 2010 at nine when the Blue Hens defeated Hofstra by a score of 25-10
With the win, the Blue Hens record is 18-16 overall and 6-6 in Coastal Athletic Association play.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Every single Blue Hen who batted registered at least one hit. The leaders were Bryce Greenly (3-for-5, RBI), Eric Ludman (3-for-4, 3 HR, tied for program record for most in a game, 5 RBI, BB), Joey Loynd (2-for-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI) and Aaron Graeber (2-for-4, 2 HR, 2 RBI)

Starting on the mound for UD was Dom Velazquez. He pitched 0.1 innings, allowed two earned runs off three hits. In relief was Tyler Strechay, Nate Rolka, Wyatt Nelson, Christian Colmery, Owen Margolis. For Strechay, he went 4.2 innings, allowed two earned runs off four hits and struck out three batters. He was credited with the win and is now 2-0. Rolka, Nelson, Colmery, and Margolis pitched the final four innings, allowed seven earned runs off five hits, struck out six batters and walked eight.

After the Huskies put up two runs in the top of the first, Ludman home runs in the bottom of the first and third to tie the game at 2-2.Â

The Blue Hens proceeded to hit seven home runs through the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.

In the fourth, Aaron Graeber hit a home run to make it 4-3. In the fifth, Eric Ludman hit his third home run, and Joey Lyond hit his first of the game to make it 7-4. In the sixth, Tyler Leach, Aidan Kane and Bryce Greenly all hit solo home runs to give the Blue Hens a 10-4 lead. And in the seventh, Graeber hit his second home run of the game to make it 11-5.

The Huskies went down without a fight as they put up four runs in the top of the eighth to make it 11-9.

The run was short- lived as Loynd hit his second home run of the game, which would be the record setting 10th of the game.
