Ellington Named CAA Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – For the third straight week, Delaware men's lacrosse goaltender Kevin Ellington was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Ellington, an Bel Air, Md. native, continued his dominance between the pipes this year as he recorded 17 saves in Delaware's 13-6 win over Drexel on Saturday. His .739 save percentage was his best when playing 40 minutes or more. The senior added a season-high six ground balls and tallied one caused turnover. Ellington made 11 saves in the first half and blanked the Dragons in the third quarter, totaling six saves in the second half.
Saturday's contest was Ellington's third straight game with at least 15 or more saves and his seventh double-digit saves effort this season. Additionally, this was Ellington's time limiting opponents to six or fewer goals.
The senior now leads the nation with a .615 save percentage. This is the second straight week that Ellington stands alone atop the nation's best goaltenders.
Delaware returns to action on Friday, April 26 as the No. 18-ranked Blue Hens host the No. 15-ranked Towson Tigers. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
