Women's Lacrosse Finishes Season Victorious Against Monmouth

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team finished strong against Monmouth completing their regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon. The Hens will now rise to an overall record of 10-6 and a CAA record of 3-5, whereas Monmouth will now sit at 6-10 overall and 2-6 in the CAA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Delaney McDaniel led the Hens with four goals and four assists.
Danielle Livornese won nine draw controls.
Sophia Foohey had 10 saves on 20 shots.
Besides McDaniel & Livornese; Morgan Gore, Riley Gillin, Lizzie Hsu, Jaclyn Marszal, Sam Paradise, Keira Grant, & Sam Schelling all scored at least once during the game.
Both Paradise & Livornese earned hat tricks this game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blue Hens scored three goals in the first nine minutes, but Monmouth replied with several unanswered goals.
After letting Monmouth take the lead in the first quarter, McDaniel & Paradise scored the only three goals in the whole second quarter with assists by Gillin & Callie Drab. This put the game at a 6-6 tie heading into halftime.
The third quarter was electric for the Hens as they took a nine-point lead against the Hawks. Foohey helped ensure that Monmouth took zero goals in the third quarter.
With a strong lead going into the fourth quarter, Monmouth was able to take three goals. However, Schelling ended the game on a high note with a goal during the last three minutes of the quarter, leaving the score Hens 17-10.
