Eighth Inning Rally Leads To Baseball Win over Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The University of Delaware baseball team defeated Stony Brook in a a Coastal Athletic Association game by a score of 9-6 on Saturday.

With the win, the Blue Hens overall record improved to 26-22 and 13-10 in CAA play.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Eight Blue Hens recorded a hit, while five recorded multiple hits, Bryce Greenly (2-for-3, HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB), Aaron Graeber (2-for-5, 2B), Chris Dengler (2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI), Tyler Leach (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) and Aiden Stewart (2-for-4, 2 RBI, BB).
Starting on the mound was Ethan Shaub. He pitched 1.1 innings, allowed three runs, one earned, off four hits. In relief were Tyler Strechay and Anthony Gubitosi. Strechay pitched four innings, allowed one earned run off two hits and walked one batter. Gubitosi pitched the final 3.2 innings and earned the win. He allowed two earned runs off two hits, struck out and walked two batters.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Through the first four innings, the Seawolves got out to a 4-1 lead.
UD eventually took a 6-5 lead with two-run home runs from Greenly and Dengler in the fifth and sixth innings.
Stony Brook took the lead back at 7-6, but the lead was short lived as the Blue Hens put up four runs in the top of the eighth inning. Andrew Amato tied the game with a single to tie the game, Leach gave the Blue Hens the lead off an infield single, scoring Dengler. Stewart and Greenly both hit singles to drive in runs to take a 9-6 lead.
