Baseball Earns Series Victory over Stony Brook with 10-5 on Sunday

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The University of Delaware baseball team wins the series finale over Stony Brook by a score of 10-5 on Sunday.
With the win, the Blue Hens overall record improved to 27-22 and 14-10 in Coastal Athletic Association play.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Eight Blue Hens recorded a hit on Sunday, two of which had multiple hits. Both Joey Loynd and Tyler Leach went 2-for-5. Loynd had a home run and three RBI's, Leach drove in two runs off two singles.Â

Starting on the mound was Dom Velazquez. He pitched a season high five innings, allowed no runs, just one hit, walked a batter and struck out two. In relief were Christian Colmery, Owen Margolis, Carter Welch, and Eli Atiya. Colmery pitched two innings, allowed no runs, one hit, struck out and walked a batter. Margolis, Welch, and Atiya pitched the final two innings.

The Blue Hens rallied off eight runs through the third, fourth, and fifth innings of Sunday's contest.Â

In the third, Loynd hit a three-run home run, followed by a Chris Dengler double that scored Aaron Graeber. In the fourth, Eric Ludman drove in Aiden Stewart off a double. And in the fifth, UD drove in two runs off singles from Leach and Stewart, and Brett Lesher brought in a run off a sacrifice fly.Â

The Seawolves added five runs in the eighth but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback.Â

UD hits the road and takes on Delaware State on Tuesday, May 14. Its last CAA series is at Bob Hannah Stadium against UNCW from May 16-18.
