NEWARK, Del. – After seven years at the University of Delaware, including four as the all-girl cheer head coach, Kirby Lynch has been elevated to spirit coordinator, Director of Athletics, Community, and Campus Recreation Chrissi Rawak announced Monday. Lynch will assume her new role effective immediately.
"Kirby has been an important part of one of the most successful tenures of Delaware spirit history and having her step into the role of spirit coordinator is a no-brainer," Rawak said. "Her commitment to excellence, support for student-athletes, and passion for the sport makes her the perfect person to lead this next chapter of Delaware spirit. I'm looking forward to watching her lead the program to continued success as we transition into a new era."
Lynch has helped the Blue Hens win six-consecutive UCA Game Day National Championships, along with third place finishes in the All Girl DI Division in 2021 and 2022, and a fourth-place finish in 2023.
"I am so excited to step into this new role with a program I feel so passionately about," Lynch said. "Delaware has molded me into the coach I am today and I'm looking forward to continuing to build upon the legacy of the Delaware spirit program. I'm thankful for the leadership of the previous spirit program coordinators who prepared me for this role, along with the leadership within athletics for the support it has given the spirit program and our staff."
Before joining the Blue Hens, Lynch was the assistant cheer coach for Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. In 2017, she aided Carmel in winning the state championship in both traditional and game day divisions.
Lynch cheered at Indiana University where she was a part of 4 UCA National Champion teams and one second-place team. She also competed on the US National All Girl Team and took home five World Championships.
