NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware field hockey program and head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof are excited to announce the hiring of Erin Moore as the team's newest assistant coach for the 2024 season.
"We would like to welcome Assistant Coach Erin Moore as a new member of our Blue Hen Field Hockey Family and to the University of Delaware," said van de Kerkhof. "It was very clear to all of us involved in the interview process that Erin has a strong passion for the sport of field hockey, the coaching profession and most importantly, making a positive impact in the lives of the student-athletes. Erin's work and coaching experience will allow for additional opportunities in our players' development as student-athletes and people, celebrate our alumni, and be active in the community."
Moore comes to the 302 with four years of collegiate coaching experience under her belt with 11 additional years coaching and developing middle and high school aged athletes. She spent four seasons at NCAA Division II Bentley University in Waltham, Mass. Prior to her stint with the Falcons, Moore enjoyed a four-year career at Regis College in Weston, Mass. as a goalkeeper where she graduated with a degree in public health and minored in biology.
While at Bentley, Moore helped lead the Falcons field hockey program to three consecutive winning seasons. She was an integral part of Falcons' run to the 2021 NCAA tournament, the first for Bentley field hockey since 2012. In 2023, she coached Falcons' goalkeeper, Mia Trottie, who earned Bentley's first NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year since 2009. Under her tenure, Bentley's goalkeepers saw multiple all-conference award winners, multiple player of the week awards, and a First Team All-America selection in 2023.
"I am honored to be joining the esteemed coaching staff at the University of Delaware and look forward to contributing to the continued success of the program," said Moore. "I am passionate both about growing the game, developing the full student-athlete, and looking forward to bringing that into the 2024 season."
Moore has made a strong personal and professional commitment to coaching development as she participated in the NFHCA to the Olympics coach tour program in the Netherlands, Belgium, and at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Moore was the goalkeepers coach at St. Michael's College School in Burlington, Vt. where she learned under head coach Carla Hesler. In 2023, Moore was a coach for a Nike camp at Millersville University and prior to that, she coached with 3 Step Sports in Andover, Mass. and for Beyond Sticks, LLC in McLean, Va.
