Men's Soccer Takes the First Fall of the Season Against George Mason

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware men's soccer team fell to George Mason on Friday evening with a final score of 4-2. This first loss of the season now puts the Hens at a 2-1 record heading into their second home game.
ON THE RECORD
"Tonight was a strange game," said head coach Tommy McMenemy. "I felt we played some excellent football and had the better of the game for long periods against a very experienced team. Unfortunately we conceded two unnecessary set pieces at bad times in the game, and paid the price. We'll take lots of positives from the performance, but the result hurts and so we need to learn quickly from our mistakes."
"We had some good moments from the guys today and we fought hard," shared Justin Ruth. "Not the result we wanted, but I'm confident in the team to bounce back strong next game."

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Adam Vik tallied five saves
- Sam Donnellan & Rich Monath both collected goals
- Jan Schroeder, Marius Stenner, and Carlos Fernandez tallied an assist
- The game kicked off with an early goal by the Patriots.
- Monath responded with a goal assisted by Schroeder.
- After a penalty kick to end the half, the Patriots went on to score two more goals in the second half.
- Donnellan was able to score a goal thanks to his assists, however George Mason scored another goal in the last minute.
- Monath tallied his first goal of the season.
