Strong Finish Leads Men’s Golf to Second-Place Finish at River Run Collegiate

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The University of Delaware men's golf team put together a strong finish to its final round to record its second-consecutive runner-up finish at the River Run Collegiate, hosted by Davidson. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes due to rain on Monday and the Blue Hens turned in a two-round score of 298-294=592 to finish at 16-over par behind only Davidson in the 11-team field. Play was held at the par-72 River Run Country Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens were tied for second after Monday's first round before carding 15 birdies on Tuesday to shoot team score of 6-over par to stand alone in second.
- Areephun turned in his second top-10 finish in as many weeks as he turned in a 2-under par 70 on Tuesday to finish at 1-over par for the 36 holes.
- Egor Zubov carded four birdies on Tuesday while Casper Nerpin and Ikk Iampongsai each recorded three to all finish in a tie for 17th place.
- Making his UD debut, Daniel Adkins tied for 15th overall as an individual.
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will be back in action at the end of the month when they compete in the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational, hosted by West Virginia. The two-day, three-round tournament will be held September 30 – October 1.
