Women’s Golf Wins Lady Blue Hen Invitational for Second-Straight Year

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – The University of Delaware women's golf team successfully defended its title at the 2025 Lady Blue Hen Invitational. The Fightin' Blue Hens shot an even-par 288 during Sunday's final round to pull away and win their home tournament for the second-consecutive year. Delaware carded a three-round score of 11-over par 875 to win by eight strokes over second-place Georgetown. The 12-team tournament was held at the par-72, 6,169-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
Freshman Rhianna Gooneratne earned runner-up honors with a 1-over par 218.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens were tied for the team lead after 18 holes and were second after Saturday's two rounds. Their 288 on Sunday was the lowest team round of the day. Delaware totaled 41 birdies for the tournament.
- Gooneratne recorded her second-consecutive top-10 finish, and third of the season as carded back-to-back under-par rounds to climb up to second overall. She finished with 13 total birdies over the 54 holes, including six during Saturday's second round when she shot a 3-under par 69. She closed the weekend with four more birdies and a 1-under par 71.
- Dunigan finished with six birdies over the 54 holes, including three in the first round when she carded an even-par 72.
- Kim moved up into a tie for 12th with a 72 during Sunday's final round and finished with four total birdies.
- Sawant was among the individual leaders after the first round when she turned in a 1-under par 71. She put five total birdies on the scorecard.
- Malosh finished with eight birdies over the 54 holes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware's winning score of 11-over par is the second-lowest winning team score in the tournament's 12-year history. Penn won the event in 2019 with an even-par 864.
- It is the third time that Delaware has won its home tournament as the Blue Hens also won the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in 2024 and 2013.
- It is the second time that a school has won the tournament in consecutive years, and the first time since Harvard won in 2015 and 2016.
