DALLAS – Defender Constanze Viehmann and forward Olivia Bley from the University of Delaware women's soccer program were named to the Conference USA All-Academic team, the league announced on Wednesday.
To qualify for the conference all-academic team, a nominee must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore class standing, and be a starter or key reserve member of the squad.
Bley and Viehmann were among 17 athletes across the twelve conference members who received the honors.
Viehmann, a senior from Landeburg, Germany, has been a key piece to the Fightin' Blue Hens defense this season. She's appeared in 12 games and made 11 starts with 780 minutes of playing time on the field. She scored the game-tying goal against NM State. The Blue Hens defense ranks second in CUSA in goals allowed (14) and goals against average (0.824). She is majoring in biochemistry and has a 3.98 cumulative GPA.
Bley, a sophomore from West Chester, has been a spark plug in her role with the Blue Hens offense. She's appeared in all 17 games and made four starts, playing 616 minutes on the field. She opened the season with a goal against Mount St. Mary's, leading to a 5-2 win, and was credited with the assist on the game-winning goal against UMBC. She is majoring in business analytics and has a cumulative GPA of 4.0.
The sophomore and senior are the first Blue Hens to receive all-academic honors since Allegra Gray back in 2014.
The women's soccer program is set to compete in the CUSA Tournament against Sam Houston on Sunday, November 2, at 1:30 p.m. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
