Field Hockey's Merashoff Earns Third-Consecutive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive Player of the Week Award

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - University of Delaware field hockey goalie Kristi Merashoff earned her third-consecutive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive Player of the Week plaudit, the conference announced Tuesday.

Merashoff earned the award after helping the Fightin' Blue Hens defeat Towson (1-0) and Drexel (2-1) over the past weekend.

The graduate student defeated the Tigers in her hometown of Towson, Md., blanking the offense while saving two shots.

In the final game of the weekend, the Hens took on Drexel, where Merashoff stopped six shots, including a penalty stroke.

She now has three penalty stroke saves on the season, which is the most in a season by a Blue Hen in recorded history.
