Gooneratne Finishes in Top 10 to Lead Women’s Golf at Marilynn Smith Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Delaware women's golf team placed eighth in a challenging 13-team field at the Marilynn Smith Invitational, hosted by the University of Kansas. The Fightin' Blue Hens carded a three-round score of 63-over par 915. Play was held at the par-71, 6,068-yard Lawrence Country Club.

The Blue Hens will close out their fall schedule in a couple of weeks when they host the Lady Blue Hen Invitational. The two-day, three-round tournament will be held at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club. Delaware will look to defend its title from a year ago when it won its home tournament with a 17-over par.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens carded 22 birdies over the three rounds.
- Gooneratne recorded her second top-10 finish of the season as she tied for eighth overall with four birdies over the 54 holes.
- Roberts and Sawant each had four birdies while Dunigan led Delaware with seven circles on her scorecard.
