NEWARK, Del. – Wilmington topped University of Delaware's men's basketball on Education Day inside the Bob Carpenter Center, 71-62, on Friday. The Fightin' Blue Hens dip to 0-2 on the season.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Macon Emory posted his second-consecutive double-double with 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. He's the first Blue Hen to do so since Christian Ray did in February 2024.
Christian Bliss neared a triple-double with 13 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
Tyler Houser recorded his second-straight double-figure scoring outing with 10 points and added six rebounds.
Rookies Mason Ellison, Alex Kazanecki, and Jayden Taylor each contributed career bests in points. Ellison had 10, while Kazanecki tallied six and six rebounds, and Taylor put in six and five boards.

HOW IT HAPPENED

It was an even affair up to the under-12 media stoppage with the game knotted at 15 apiece. The visitors scored the first six points out of the timeout before UD found the bottom of the net on a pair of free throws. With Wilmington up 35-25, Delaware ripped off a 7-0 spurt over 2:23 to make it a one-possession game with 2:07 left in the half. The Wildcats took a 38-37 lead into the locker room.
With a 10-6 advantage to open the second half, Delaware took its first lead since midway through the first period, 47-46. Wilmington regained control by as many as eight on two different occasions heading into the under-eight timeout with a 60-52 lead. The Wildcats pushed the lead into double figures for most of the remainder of the game.

GAME NOTES

Kazanecki made his first career start and scored his first points.
