Ingelsby Records 150th Win as Men's Basketball Tops GW 70-58

WASHINGTON, D.C. - University of Delaware men's basketball head coach Martin Ingelsby recorded his 150th win as the Fightin' Blue Hens topped George Washington on the road 70-58 on Wednesday evening. UD improves to 3-6 on the season, while the Revolutionaries fall to 8-3.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Justyn Fernandez recorded a career-high 27 points, with 20 of them coming in the first half. He shot 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and tied his career-high of five three pointers made for the second time this season.
- Christian Bliss neared a triple double for the second time this season with 12 points, a career-high nine rebounds, and eight assists.
- Macon Emory rounded out the double figure scoring with 13 points.
- Playing in just his fifth Division I game, Bouna Kebe set career highs with four points and six rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware jumped out to a 6-1 lead with back-to-back threes by Fernandez to start the game.
- With the game tied at six, another pair of Fernandez 3-pointers bookended a 17-3 run for the Blue Hens that gave them their largest lead, 23-10, with 8:55 left in the first half.
- GW cut into the lead, but layups by Fernandez and Tyler Houser kept Delaware up by two, 31-29, at halftime.
- The Blue Hens recorded the first four points of the second half and maintained the lead as the two teams went back-and-forth for the next 10 minutes of play.
- Out of the under-eight media timeout, a three pointer from Alex Kazanecki followed by an Emory alley-oop from Bliss put Delaware up 50-43 with 7:13 remaining.
- The Hens had an answer for every GW basket the rest of the way, extending their lead to double digits. Free throws by Emory and Bliss in the final minute sealed the victory.
GAME NOTES
- Fernandez recorded his second-consecutive 20-point game, breaking his previous career-high of 23 points against Delaware State.
- Delaware held GW, which came in averaging 91.4 ppg, to a season-tying low 29 points in a single half and a season-low 58 total points.
- UD had its second-largest lead of the season by 13 points in the first half.
- Bliss has handed out at least four assists in every game this season.
UP NEXT
Delaware will return to Newark for a five-game home stretch that kicks off with a contest against California State University - Northridge on Saturday, December 13 at 1 p.m.
