Football's Thaw Receives CUSA Fall Spirit of Service Award

DALLAS – University of Delaware football WR Jake Thaw has earned the Conference USA Fall Spirit of Service Award, the league announced Friday. The award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing, and participation in their sport. The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the year, with Friday's announcement accounting for all sports with championships in the fall.
The Westport, Conn. native played and started 10 games for UD this season, concluding the 2025 campaign with the fourth-most catches on the team (31) and third-most receiving yards on the team (359), while finishing tied for second on the team with three receiving touchdowns.
Thaw was the Fightin Blue Hens' AFCA Good Works Team nominee, a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, and was named to the 2025 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Watch List. The 2023 National Champion was also named to Athlon Sports 2025 Preseason Conference USA All-Conference Third Team as a punt returner and fourth team as a receiver, while also being named to Phil Steele's 2025 Preseason CUSA Third Team as a punter returner.
Thaw was an All-CAA Second Team honoree as a punt returner during his first season in Newark in 2024. He recorded nine returns for 108 yards for an average of 12.0 yards per attempt. As a receiver, he ranked second on the team with 41 catches for 334 receiving yards, and five touchdowns to be UD's top returning wideout in 2025.
The graduate international business major sports a 3.952 overall GPA and is a two-time member of the CSC Academic All-District Team, three-time Academic All-Big Ten, and two-time CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.
