Football Seniors at TD Club Banquet

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team's departing seniors were honored on Friday night at the annual Blue Hen Touchdown Club Senior Awards banquet at Delaware's Clayton Hall. The 21 senior student-athletes, as well as the senior interns for the program’s support staff were all recognized, and the TD Club presented its annual awards.
The evening started with opening remarks from Touchdown Club President Russ Crook as well as Senior Deputy Athletic Director Jordan Skolnick and Head Football Coach Ryan Carty. Following a tasty dinner, the awards portion of the evening began.

Marcus Yarns - Outstanding Offensive Player; Taylor Memorial Award
- Yarns earned his second-straight All-CAA selection as he finished the season with 1,141 all-purpose yards, including a team-high 844 rushing yards, and 11 total touchdowns.
- He had five games with at least 100 rushing yards, including four-consecutive games to end the season.
- Yarns finished his Delaware career with 2,344 rushing yards and 3,156 all-purpose yards, scoring 34 total touchdowns.
- The Taylor Memorial Award has been given each year since 1948 to a senior who made outstanding contributions to the program throughout his career.
- It was presented by Bob Lundquist, the 1980 winner of the award.
Tyron Herring - Outstanding Defensive Player; Captains Award
- Earned his second-straight All-CAA nod after being an honorable mention selection last season.
- Started in all 11 games, finishing with 30 tackles, 1.5 TFLs, an interception and two pass breakups.
- Had a key interception that led to a touchdown in season finale at Villanova.
- He became the first transfer to be named a team captain under Carty.
Kaelin Costello - Outstanding Special Teams Player
- Costello was a key member of UD’s special teams units over the past few seasons.
- He appeared in all 11 games in 2024, registering eight tackles.
- Costello played in 35 career games for the Blue Hens with 23 total tackles.
Brock Gingrich - Outstanding Lineman; Captains Award
- Gingrich earned All-CAA First Team honors and two All-America nods in 2024.
- He finished his career with 45 games played at center.
- In 2024, Gingrich helped lead an offensive line that spearheaded a rushing attack that averaged 184.3 rush yards per game. which ranked fourth in the CAA and was UD's most since 2017.
- He was a two-time captain for the Blue Hens.
Phil Lutz – Vincent "Winnie” Mayer Outstanding End
- Lutz earned All-CAA honors as he led the Blue Hens with 45 receptions for 863 yards and 11 touchdowns.
- He tied for the second-most receiving touchdown in a single season in Delaware history and his 863 receiving yards were most in a Delaware season since 2013.
- Lutz ranked third in the CAA and sixth nationally in touchdown receptions.
Quincy Watson - Unsung Hero
- A sixth-year member of the Blue Hens, Watson appeared in all 11 games in 2024 and 51 over his career.
- He rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns last season including two at N.C. A&T.
- He was also a key member of Delaware’s special teams units.
Alex Villas - Newark Elks Club Scholar-Athlete
- Villas appeared in six games in 2024 and finished with six tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
- He is a three-time member of the CAA Football Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
- Villas was selected to the 2023 CSC Academic All-District Team.

Season tickets for the 2025 season, Delaware’s inaugural campaign at the FBS level, are on sale now. Fans who purchase season tickets by February 28, 2025 can save up to nine percent on their season ticket package with Early Bird pricing and up to 34 percent over single-game ticket prices. The Blue Hens will play six home games at Delaware Stadium, and season ticket members also get first access to upgrade their seats and/or parking space, additional home and away game tickets, including UD’s games at Colorado (Sept. 6) and Wake Forest (Nov. 22), and receive a 2025 Delaware Football STM gift. Partial plans and individual game tickets will go on sale at a later date.
