Men’s Basketball Can’t Take Down First Place Towson on the Road

TOWSON, Md. – University of Delaware men's basketball battled Thursday night but couldn't take down first-place Towson. The Tigers (17-9, 12-1 CAA) defeated the Blue Hens (12-14, 5-8 CAA), 75-70.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Erik Timko led all Hens with 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-6 from long range.
Izaiah Pasha registered 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Cavan Reilly and Niels Lane each scored 12 points.
Reilly swiped a career-high six steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

UD held a 10-8 lead but wouldn't the rest of the half. Towson went up by 10 on three occasions in the first half and Delaware kept cutting the deficit. Tahron Allen scored five-straight points as part of seven unanswered to cut the gap to 32-29 with 1:24 left. Timko tied the game at 34 all before the break, but a buzzer beater by the home team gave the Tigers the 36-34 edge.
Delaware used a 7-0 run over 1:26 to regain the lead 41-38 which forced a timeout from Towson with 17:27 on the clock. Towson would eventually answer with an 8-2 margin prior to a Martin Ingelsby timeout with the Tigers ahead 51-50. The Hens took the lead on the next score; however, the home team rebuilt the lead to six. UD pulled within one at 62-61, but back-to-back triples pushed it back to a seven-point game. The Hens wouldn't erase the gap.

Delaware dips to 0-11 when trailing at the half this season.
