Vasilenko Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Delaware women's tennis senior Alina Vasilenko has graced the CAA's weekly awards list as the Women's Tennis Player of the Week. The CAA shared the accolade on Tuesday afternoon.
Vasilenko earned her award after a successful back-to-back match weekend. On Friday, Vasilenko competed in the number one spot for both singles and doubles against FDU. Her doubles win alongside Cornelia Kack clinched the doubles point for the Hens allowing them the lead heading into singles. Once again, Vasilenko made quick work defeating her opponent, Namie Isago, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
On Saturday, Vasilenko competed in the number two spot and contributed significantly to the Blue Hen sweep against George Washington. Once again, Vasilenko and Kack took down their doubles matchup, 6-3. In singles, Vasilenko wasted no time taking time Vaida Matuseviciute down, 6-3, 6-1.
The Russian senior has seen a lot of success this spring with a singles record of 5-3 and doubles record of 5-2. This past fall, she picked up a singles record of 3-2 and doubles record of 5-1.
Vasilenko will join her squad for a home matchup against LIU on Friday at 1 p.m. at Delcastle Tennis Center.
