Men’s Basketball Fights Back but Can’t Overcome Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. – University of Delaware men's basketball fought back Thursday night but couldn't overcome Charleston as the Blue Hens (12-18, 5-12 CAA) fell to the Cougars (22-8, 12-5 CAA), 94-84.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

John Camden set his CAA high with 31 points and added 10 rebounds for his second career double-double. He went 9-of-15 overall, 4-of-10 from deep, and a perfect 9-of-9 at the line.
Izaiah Pasha added 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Cavan Reilly rounded out a trio of double figure scorers with 16 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Delaware held a slight lead early before a 17-2 run, including 15 unanswered by the home team, pushed the Cougars ahead 28-15 with 8:23 left in the opening frame. The run spanned just over five minutes with the Hens 1-of-7 from the field with four turnovers. Charleston pushed the lead 14, however the Hens pulled it back to a seven-point game on three different occasions with the Cougars going into the locker room ahead 43-34.
The Hens cut it to five prior to a triple and timeout from the hosts at 56-48 at the under-12 timeout. An 8-2 UD advantage made it a one-possession game at 58-56. The Cougars pushed it back to 66-60 at the under-eight media stoppage. An Erik Timko triple shrunk the gap back to three points with 4:20 left before a 12-2 late run cemented the result.

GAME NOTES

Delaware drops to 0-14 when trailing at the half this season.
