Short-Handed Men’s Basketball Couldn’t Keep Pace with UNCW

NEWARK, Del. – A short-handed University of Delaware men's basketball team couldn't keep pace with UNCW Thursday night as the Blue Hens fell 77-67. UD dips to 11-13 overall, 4-7 CAA, while the Seahawks advance to 19-5, 9-2 CAA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Izaiah Pasha paced UD with 19 points. He also led the team with five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. His three steals are a career high.
Trent Middleton Jr. scored a career-best 16 points.
John Camden (13) and Tahron Allen (10) also finished in double-digit point totals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Despite the Seahawks being up by as many as nine points, the Hens closed it to a one-possession game with a 6-0 run over 51 seconds to make it 30-27. UD would chip it to as few as one before UNCW scored the final seven points of the half for a 41-33 lead.
The Blue & Gold scored the first five points of the second frame to cut the margin to 41-38, which forced a timeout by the Seahawks. A three-point game at 11:21, UNCW tallied nine-unanswered points over 1:25 to go ahead 59-47 with 9:03 on the clock. The gap ballooned to as many as 17 the rest of the way.

GAME NOTES

Delaware moves to 0-10 when trailing at the half this season.
Niels Lane missed the game with a hip injury and is considered day-to-day.
Houston Emory, Cavan Reilly, and Erik Timko missed the game due to illness.
