Men’s Golf Starts Spring Strong at Surf Club Invitational

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The University of Delaware men's golf team opened its spring season with a good showing at the Surf Club Invitational, hosted by Appalachian State. The Blue Hens carded a team 1-over par over the final 18 holes to finish fourth in the 17-team field. The two-day tournament, which was shortened to 36 holes due to weather on Monday morning, was played at the par-71, 6,604-yard Surf Golf & Beach Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware turned in its fifth top-five finish in six tournaments this season. The Blue Hens totaled 32 birdies over the two rounds, including 18 on Tuesday as the squad climbed from ninth to fourth in the team standings.
- Zubov had seven birdies over the 36 holes, turning in a 1-under par 70 during the final round to record his third top-10 finish of the season.
- Iampongsai carded the lowest round of his career, firing a 3-under par 68 on Tuesday with seven birdies. He finished with nine birdies total for the tournament.
- Nerpin had six birdies on Monday and three more on Tuesday to tie Iampongsai with nine total birdies.
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will head back south in a couple of weeks for the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, hosted by South Alabama. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played March 23-25 in Mobile, Alabama.
