TEMPE, Ariz. - University of Delaware women's tennis junior Maryia Hrynashka has solidified herself as a national powerhouse as she remains No. 61 on the ITA Female Division I Singles National Rankings, the organization announced Tuesday.
Out of the 2,400 Division I women's collegiate tennis players, the ITA collects the top 125 singles players to rank. The individual rankings are determined by a combination of factors that evaluate the player's overall performance and strength of competition. A player's win-loss record is crucial, with greater weight given to victories over higher-ranked opponents.
The strength of the schedule also plays a key role, as wins against top-tier players are more valuable than those against unranked competitors. Head-to-head results influence rankings, ensuring that direct matchups between ranked players are considered.
Her performances over the past two weeks include a 3-0 singles and 3-0 doubles records. She was named half of the CAA Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week with Paulina Jurkowska after the two heavily contributed to Delaware's clinches against LIU on Friday and Temple on Sunday.
Over the spring, Hrynashka has posted a singles record of 7-1 and doubles record of 5-4 competing from the number one spot in all matches.
Hrynashka is the only CAA student-athlete to be ranked in singles or doubles by the ITA. She has outranked others from Power 4 institutions like Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan.
The Blue Hens return to action on Saturday with matches against NJIT at 9 a.m. and Monmouth at 2 p.m.
