RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware men's basketball freshman Izaiah Pasha has been named the 2024-25 CAA Rookie of the Year and senior John Camden earn All-CAA Second Team honors, the league announced Thursday. Pasha also landed on the All-CAA Rookie Team.
Pasha, who becomes the fourth rookie of the year winner in eight seasons with an eligible student-athlete under Martin Ingelsby, led all CAA rookies in points and assists. His 11.6 points per game came with 19 double digit point showings, including seven at 15 or better, and a pair at 20-plus. The Harrisburg, Pa. native shot 52.9 percent from the field and 78.3 percent from the line. A six-time CAA Rookie of the Week, he's the first in league history to do so since UD's Ryan Daly did it in 2016-17. Pasha's 3.6 assists per game ranked fifth overall in the league.
When he opened the season in the starting lineup against Bucknell, Pasha became first freshman to start a season opener since Kevin Anderson and Chyree Walker in 2017. He's the first Blue Hen to win rookie of the year and rookie team selection since since Jyáre Davis in 2022. Delaware went on to win the league championship that season.
Camden picks up his first all-league honor of his career. A transfer from Virginia Tech, he made an immediate impact on the Blue & Gold as the only Hen to start in every game this season. His 16.6 points per game were best on the team and seventh in the CAA. He also led Delaware with 5.2 rebounds per game and a 40.2 percent three-point field goal percentage. Scoring 10 or more points in 24 of his 31 games played, Camden eclipsed 20 points in nine games, including a trio at 30 or better. His 35-point performance at St. John's marks his career best. In that game, he became one of 26 players nationally this season to make nine or more triples in a game. The Downingtown, Pa. native also set a career high with 10 rebounds on two different occasions as part of his first two career double-doubles.
Pasha, Camden, and the 12th-seeded Hens return to action Friday against 13th-seeded Stony Brook in the first round of the 2025 Jersey Mike's CAA Men's Basketball Championship at 2 p.m. from CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C.
