Women’s Basketball Records Largest Margin of Victory over Drexel Since 2007

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team destroyed the Drexel Dragons, 82-59 on Thursday night. It was the largest margin of victory for the Hens over their rivals from Philadelphia since 2007. The Blue Hens jump up to 12-15 (9-8 CAA), while the Dragons drop to 16-11 (12-5 CAA).

HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- The Blue Hens tallied a season-best 21 assists.
- Delaware made double-digit threes, knocking down 10 from beyond the arc at a 56-percent clip.
- Ella Wanzer led the way with 19 points, shooting 70-percent from the floor including a 4-of-6 from three.
- Ande'a Cherisier went 8-for-12 from the floor for 18 points and six rebounds.
- Tara Cousins dropped 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting to go with six assists.
- Rebecca Demeke put up 11 points while shooting 50-percent from deep.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- At the game's initial media timeout, Delaware led 11-6 after the Hens used an 11-0 run early in the contest. The Blue & Gold took a 16-12 advantage into the second quarter.
- With 4:06 to go in the second quarter, Delaware held a 32-22 lead. The half ended with the same margin as the Hens led 41-31 at the break.
- Delaware used a 7-0 run over 1:51 to take a 15-point lead with 4:29 remaining in the third quarter. The home team led by 16 heading into the final quarter.
- The lead reached as high as 26 in the fourth for the Hens to take the contest.
GAME NOTES
- The result marked the first time since February 25, 2007 that the Hens defeated the Dragons by 20+ points.
- Demeke posted her sixth-straight game with 10 or more points, while Cherisier recorded her third such contest.
- Delaware improves to 10-3 when four or more players score in double figures.
- This was the first win for Delaware over Drexel since Sarah Jenkins took over the program.
