Walmsley Hits First Collegiate Home Run in Win Over Charleston

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The University of Delaware baseball team finished its three-game weekend series against Coastal Athletic Association opponent Charleston with a win by a score of 11-1 on Sunday.
With the win, the Blue Hens overall record becomes 18-16 and are 6-6 in CAA play.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Brett Walmsley (2-for-3, HR, 4 RBI, BB) led the Blue Hens offensively. Walmsley's home run was the first of his collegiate career.
- Brett Lesher went 4-for-5 with two doubles and Aiden Stewart went 2-for-2 with a walk, a double and drove in two runs.
- The Blue Hens had a strong performance from their pitching staff today. Starting was Tim Hartman, in relief was Jake Pollaro, Ethan Shaub and Dom Velazquez.
- The four pitchers combined to allow just one run off two hits and struck out four batters in eight innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UD opened the game with five runs in the top of the second. Walmsley got the rally started with a two-run single. Jackson Tyer had a two-run triple, and Stewart finished the rally with a sacrifice fly.
- In the third, Lesher hit a double to score Andrew Amato. Stewart drove in Aaron Graeber in the fourth off a single.
- Matthew Minckler added to the Blue Hen lead with an RBI single, scoring Lesher. Walmsley followed Minckler with a two-run home run, giving the Blue Hens a 10-1 lead.
