Career-Night for Kolar Leads Men’s Lacrosse To 16-12 Victory Against Drexel

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's lacrosse ended its season on a high note, taking down the Drexel Dragons, 16-12, thanks to a career-night from Jason Kolar. The Blue Hens finish the year at 7-6 (3-4 CAA), while the Dragons fall to 7-7 (4-3 CAA).

HENS HIGHLIGHTS

Kolar scored four goals to tie his career-best, while setting new career-highs in assists (3) and points (7).
Brendan Powers, Tyler Owings, Finn Morgan, John McCurry, and Bennett Parmer all posted two-goal games with Powers and Parmer each recording an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Drexel scored the first two goals of the contest, before Owings answered back for the Hens with the next two goals. Drexel tallied twice more in the first to lead 4-2 at the end of the first stanza.
Delaware struck for the first four goals in the second frame, taking its first lead at 6-4. Drexel notched its fifth goal of the game with 4:16 to go in the half to bring it back to within one.
Kolar opened the scoring in the second half with his fourth goal of the game, making it 7-5 Blue Hens. The Hens recorded the next two goals before Drexel answered, leaving a 9-6 Delaware lead. Powers tallied before Morgan scored back-to-back goals to extend the UD lead to six. McCurry found the back of the net with 1:43 left in the third to make it 13-6 in favor of the Hens.
The Dragons outscored the Hens 6-3 in the final frame, but the comeback attempt fell short.

GAME NOTES

Delaware moves to 52-28 all-time against the Dragons.
Ben DeLuca improves to 8-1 in his career against Drexel.
