Football’s Jake Thaw Named Allstate AFCA Good Works Team Nominee

ATLANTA – University of Delaware football WR Jake Thaw was named the team's Allstate AFCA Good Works Team nominee, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy recognize college football athletes for their good works off the field and their unwavering commitment to community service.
Thaw wrapped up his first season in Newark with an All-CAA Second Team nod as a punt returner. He recorded nine returns for 108 yards for an average of 12.0 yards per attempt. As a receiver, the Westport, Conn. product ranked second on the team with 41 catches for 334 receiving yards and five touchdowns. The graduate international business major sports a 3.952 overall GPA and is a two-time member of the CSC Academic All-District Team, three-time Academic All-Big Ten, and two-time CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.
In the community, Thaw volunteers at the Journey Church in Newark, helping organize the team in community service food drives during the winter months in 2024 and 2025. Over 500 families from Newark and surrounding communities are served boxes of food and other nourishments each drive.
Thaw has had a busy preseason, being named to Athlon Sports 2025 Preseason Conference USA All-Conference Third Team as a punt returner and Fourth Team as a receiver, while also being named to Phil Steele's 2025 Preseason CUSA Third Team as a punter returner.
Poised to start the new era of Delaware athletics in 2025-26, the Fightin' Blue Hens eye their first FBS season in 2025 as a member of Conference USA. The campaign kicks off at home against Delaware State on Thursday, August 28 at 7 p.m.
