Delaware Announces Game Day Updates for Football Games
8/21/2025 2:10:00 PM | Football
NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team opens up its first FBS season on Thursday, August 28 at 7 p.m. vs. Delaware State at home in Delaware Stadium. Fans are encouraged to show up early, and can expect new and exciting updates to the pregame experience in and around Delaware Stadium this fall.
Flight Path
The Flight Path is designed to enhance the fan experience by celebrating the pageantry of college football. On game days three hours before kickoff, fans can gather to welcome the team as it arrives for the game. The Fightin' Blue Hens will drop the team off on South College Avenue at entrance A in front of the Bob Carpenter Center. They will walk through a tunnel of cheer, dance, marching band, and fans as the Hens make their way into the stadium and toward the locker room. This tunnel will form in the roadway between the Gold VIP lot and the upgraded Hen House powered by Schell Brothers. Fans are encouraged to help cheer on the team and join the tunnel with the band and spirit programs as they arrive for every home game this year!
Spirit and Band Joint Performance
Immediately following the Flight Path, there will be a spirit and band joint performance, located on the BCC Plaza. Stick around after the team enters the stadium and support the incredible UD marching band and spirit programs.
Anchor Buick GMC Fan Zone and Minite Plaza Offerings
The Anchor Buick GMC Fan Zone will return again this season with music, inflatables, games, face painting, and more for families to enjoy. New this year, food and alcohol offerings will be available for purchase in the fan zone, providing options for fans to enjoy BBQ and other themed entrees, sides, dessert, and drinks before entering the stadium.
Inside the stadium, the Minite Family Plaza (just inside the Cosgrove northwest gate) will feature a beer garden, available for groups to rent from two hours to 30 minutes before the game. When not in use by a group, and for all games beginning 30 minutes prior to kick, a selection of seven draft beers will be available for all fans to purchase.
New Updates to the Student Tailgate Lot
Delaware Athletics is rolling out major upgrades to the student tailgate lot for the 2025 football season, including live music, games, activities, food, and a massive video screen. For the first time, on-site concessions will be available with hot dogs, snacks, and drinks, while the lot remains free to all students and opens three hours before kickoff. Free shuttles will run from campus, and students just need their game ticket and UD ID to enter. For more information, visit the full release on the new Student Tailgate Lot updates here.
Updated UD Marching Band Pregame Entrance and Performance
The updated band pregame entrance and performance will begin with an intro video for the band and will feature a new entrance route, with the band entering the field from the east sideline and performing while facing the west stands.
YoUDee and Baby Blue Entrance
YoUDee and Baby Blue entrances will also include an intro video for the mascots following the UD marching band performance. Be sure to get in your seats early to check out the defending DI Mascot National Champion and runner up get the crowd ready to go before the team makes its way to the field for kickoff.
Football Team Entrance Update
The updated team entrance features a number of exciting new changes. Most notably, the inflatable tunnel will be removed. Two branded CO2 sleds, each equipped with three CO2 cannons, will be placed on the field to form a tunnel. These sleds will provide 17 to 20 seconds of CO2 as the team runs out between them, creating a dramatic entrance. Cheer, dance, and the mascots will now begin at the 50-yard line holding flags, and the band and spirit squads will form a tunnel extending past the CO2 sleds.
