Softball Earns Program Best 13 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Chloe Blantz, Mary Beth Cahalan, Marlayna Capaldi, Bridget Chapman, Josie Crossman, Grace Hausamann, Morgan Hess, Gracie Jacobs, Olivia Marinucci, Katie Scheivert, Lillie Scheivert, Sydney Shaffer, and Ellie Talley were all named to the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2024-25 academic year. The 13 selections were a new program record, besting the nine done in 2021.Â
Blantz, a pre-veterinary major, enjoyed her finest season as a Blue Hen for her senior year. She hit .353/.408/.532 with five home runs and 42 runs scored. She was also a CSC Academic All District selection and CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient. She ended her career ranked in the top 15 in games played, at bats, doubles, RBIs, runs scored, extra base hits, and hit by pitches. Blantz was also an All-America Scholar-Athlete honoree in 2023 and 2024.Â
Cahalan played her final season at Delaware after transferring from Dartmouth. A health behavior science major, she was a CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and CSC Academic All-District. She hit .323/.391/.542 and was the CAA Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-CAA selection, and was NFCA All-Region Third-Team selection.Â
Capaldi joined the Blue Hens after transferring from South Alabama. A management major, the Delaware native earned CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition in her first year at UD. She had a .367 on base percentage and .417 slugging percentage while making 11 starts.Â
Chapman, a human services major, earned CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition in her first two semesters as a student-athlete. She appeared in 16 games during her freshman season.Â
Crossman, also a freshman, earned CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition in the fall and spring semesters as well. A sport management major, Crossman pitched to a 3.00 ERA in 21 games and 39.2 innings with two shutouts. She was the first Delaware freshman since 2021 to throw two shutouts in a season and on March 4 became the first Delaware pitcher to earn CAA Rookie of the Week since 2022.Â
Hausamann arrived to Delaware after playing her first two seasons at Lafayette. She appeared in 37 games and hit .278 with 15 runs scored and nine sacrifice bunts. Hausamann is a psychology major and earned CAA Commissioner's Academic Honors. Â
Hess wrapped up an outstanding college career after two historic seasons as a Blue Hen. She was a criminal justice major and was a Third-Team CSC Academic All American on top of being a First-Team All-Region, First-Team All-CAA, and ranked 40th in D1Softball's Top 100 Mid-Major Player Rankings for the 2025 season. She hit .346/.411/.608 with eight home runs and was 11-5 in the circle with a 2.53 ERA and six shutouts. Hess was also an All-America Scholar-Athlete honoree in 2024
Jacobs, a transfer from DePaul, is a psychology major. She was a CAA Commissioner's Academic Honoree during the fall and spring.Â
Marinucci was a communication major and a CAA Commissioner's Academic Honoree during the fall and spring. She appeared in 18 games with 14 at bats as a pinch hitter.Â
Katie Scheivert, a sport management major, was a CSC Academic All-District selection and Second-Team All-CAA selection. She hit 333/.396/.467 with 60 hits, 13 doubles, and 42 runs scored. On May 1 against Towson, she tied a program record with four runs scored in a single-game. She was also an All-America Scholar-Athlete honoree in 2023 and 2024.Â
Lillie Scheivert was a communication major. She played in 32 games and made 22 starts and was a CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient. She was also an All-America Scholar-Athlete honoree in 2024
Shaffer put up the greatest offensive season in Delaware history, setting single-season records in home runs (19), RBIs (57), extra base hits (33), batting average (.421), on base percentage (.540), slugging percentage (.888), OPS (1.428), and total bases (135). An elementary education major, she became the program's first ever CSC Academic All America First-Team selection and third ever Blue Hen to win Conference Player of the Year. She was also an NFCA All-Region selection and was ranked 51st in D1Softball's Top 100 Mid-Major Player Rankings.Â
Talley, an animal science major, earned All-Rookie honors after hitting .289/.316/.539 with four home runs, including a walk-off home run on March 18 against Rider and delivered the walk-off hit on May 2 vs Towson to clinch the CAA Regular Season Championship.Â

Delaware had a historic season in 2025 that led to its third CAA Regular Season Championship in four seasons. The Blue Hens broke numerous program records during the year including home runs, doubles, strikeouts, conference wins, consecutive conference wins, run-rule victories, consecutive run-rule victories, and postseason honors in a season. The 23 conference wins were the most ever by a CAA team. Delaware is one of eight Division I teams with at least 20 conference wins in the last two seasons. UD will compete as a member of Conference USA starting in 2026.Â
