Football Travels to Colorado for First-Ever Matchup with Big 12 School

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team will travel to Boulder, Colorado for a clash with the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday, September 6 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will air nationally on FOX. Saturday's game will be the first time Delaware takes on a current or all-time member of the Big 12.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware enters the contest 1-0, coming off a 35-17 victory over Delaware State. It marks the fourth-consecutive season that Delaware has started the year 1-0 under Ryan Carty.
- Not only did WRs Kyre Duplessis and Jake Thaw make their first career starts against the Hornets, both set career marks. Duplessis in receptions (7) and yards (89), while Thaw did so in yards (92) and longest reception (50). QB Nick Minicucci also set career marks in completions (28), attempts (36), and yards (270). S Kahlil Ali recorded his first career interception and touchdown.
- OL Fintan Brose picked up the program's first-ever CUSA Player of the Week award after week one with his performance over Delaware State when he was named the league's Offensive Lineman of the Week. Brose shifted positions along the offensive front to make his first-ever start at center in the absence of injured OL Steven Demboski.
- All three of UD's starting wide receivers from the season opener, Duplessis, Jake Thaw, and Sean Wilson, recorded their first career starts.
- Fifteen Hens made their debuts for the Blue & Gold against Delaware State (LB Meikhi Cuttino, Duplessis, RB Viron Ellison Jr., S AJ Graham, S Noah Jefferson, CB Jamarion Kolagbodi, P Brenden Lach, DE Noah Matthews, TE Scott Moore, WR Brandon Rehmann, DE Kaeden Singleton, RB Greg Spiller, OL Noah Rosahac, & TE Jackson Whitacre), including nine making their collegiate debuts (Cuttino, Graham, Jefferson, Kologbodi, Moore, Singleton, Spiller, Rosahac, & Whitacre). Five also tallied their first career starts (Duplessis, OL Anthony Caccese, Rosahac, WR Jake Thaw, & WR Sean Wilson).
- The Blue & Gold put up 428 yards of total offense against the Hornets outgaining Delaware State by 79 yards. Delaware won the turnover battle, forcing two to DSU's one.
ABOUT THE BUFFALOES
- Colorado is led by Pro Football and College Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. Sanders, the 1994 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, spent 14 seasons in the NFL as a cornerback, winning two Super Bowls, making eight Pro Bowls, and being named an All-Pro eight times.
- Colorado enters the contest 0-1, coming off a 27-20 loss to Georgia Tech.
- The Buffaloes lead the nation with 38 players in their final season of eligibility, eight more than any other FBS team (Mississippi State and Oklahoma State both have 30).
- In addition to Sanders, Colorado's staff features a litany of former high-profile NFL pieces including Pat Shurmer (Former NFL HC), Marshall Faulk (Pro Football HOF RB), and Warren Sapp (Pro Football HOF DT).
- The Buffaloes offense is led by Liberty transfer QB Kaidon Salter, who threw for 159 yards and one touchdown, while adding 43 yards and a score on the ground in the Buffaloes' season-opening loss. Salter has the most total touchdowns in the FBS since 2023. He has 70 total touchdowns – 48 passing and 22 rushing.
