NEWARK, Del. – Sophomore Macon Emory scored a career-high 21 points as the University of Delaware men's basketball team lost to UTEP Thursday evening 70-69. The Fightin' Blue Hens drop to 5-12, 1-5 CUSA, while the Miners advance to 6-11, 2-4 CUSA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

UD made 10 or more threes in seven games this season after connecting on 10 against the Miners.
Delaware won the rebounding margin at +7.
Emory shot 7-for-10 overall, including a career-best 4-for-4 from distance.
Justyn Fernandez registered 15 points for his fifth-straight double-figure game and ninth in the last 10 games.
Tyler Houser recorded his fifth-consecutive with double figure points with 18. He also added five rebounds and tied his career-high four assists.
Christian Bliss dropped 10 points to mark his fifth in-a-row in double figures and 15 of 17 games this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The teams traded the first 12 points of the game with all six of the Hens' points coming from Fernandez. Another field goal for UD gave the home team an 8-6 lead at the first stoppage at 15:06. The Blue Hens held on to the two-point lead into the under-12 media break with a score of 12-10. The Blue & Gold opened widened the gap with a 12-2 run, including seven-unanswered points, over 4:43 to go ahead 25-15 at 5:41. UTEP was battling back to close the margin, but a triple at the buzzer by Fernandez made it a 36-30 game heading into the locker room.
UTEP paced the second half through the opening 8:23 with a 21-15 scoring advantage to knot the game at 51 apiece. The game remained deadlocked heading into the final break of the second half at 61 all. Neither team would lead by more than one possession the remainder of the game.
