Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats George Mason on Senior Day

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware women's swimming & diving defeated George Mason on senior day Saturday by a score of 244-56. With the victory, the Fightin' Blue Hens improved to 6-2.
The women's team has now won four out of its last five dual meets.
Delaware won every event on the women's side over the Patriots in this meet. This was the second time this season the squad has done so in a dual meet (10/4 vs. Old Dominion).
Angelica Ragazzoni and Victoria Novinskiy both won all four races that they competed in during the meet.
SENIOR DAY
Prior to the meet, the program honored nine seniors for their valued dedication and impact to the team. Bri Cottingham, Bella Granetzke, Elishka Hajek, Lauren Hartel, Judy Liu, Alexandra Misikova, Victoria Novinskiy, Alex Pastris, and Angelica Ragazzoni were celebrated.
RESULTS
The women's team kicked off the event taking the first two spots in the 200-medley relay. Aleksandra Dimitrova, Cottingham, Novinskiy, and Olivia Willemsen touched the wall at 1:41.11. This mark set the first of four pool records on the day.
Hartel took the 1000-yard free at 9:58.55.
Liu took her first of two races on the day in the 200-free at 1:51.19, with the other win coming in the 400-free relay.
Ragazzoni won her first of her four races in the 100-back at 54.27, which she followed up with a 23.70 time in the 50-free, taking that race as well. She also picked up a win in the 200-back, at 2:00.13.
Cottingham followed up her first performance in the medley relay with a win in the 100-breast at 1:01.91.
Novinskiy set a pool record in the 100-fly at 52.54. The senior also won the 200-IM at 1:59.57 and the 200-fly at 1:57.06
Keira Allison won the 3M dive event at 261.30. Pastris followed just behind at 260.85.
Pastris captured the 1M dive victory in her final meet at Rawstrom Natatorium. She scored a 282.45 in the event.
Willemsen picked up a solo victory in the 100-free at 50.86. Just behind was Hajek at 51.53.
Piper Price won the 200-breast at 2:15.17, finishing nine seconds ahead of any Patriot swimmers. Price picked up personal bests in both breaststroke races today. The 200-breast being a pool record.
Elisa Spera won the 500-free at 4:57.90, completing the race 17 seconds quicker than any opposing swimmer.
The 400-free relay had UD take both of the top two spots, with Ragazzoni, Willemsen, Liu, and Hajek finishing in 3:23.80, and Hartel, Zoe Weker, Granetzke, and Naia Legarda at 3:29.99. The former group setting a pool record.
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens' next meet is the ASUN Championships, in Orlando, Fla., from February 18-21. This will be the squad's first time competing in the championship for its new league.
