Men’s Basketball Battles to Victory at New Mexico, 73-64

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After a second half filled with 12 lead changes, the University of Delaware men's basketball team picked up a 73-64 conference win at New Mexico State Wednesday to split the season series. The Fightin' Blue Hens advance to 6-14 overall and 2-7 in CUSA play, while the Aggies dip to 10-10, 3-7 CUSA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

UD out shot New Mexico State in all three phases of the game.
Delaware capitalized with 11 points off 10 Aggies' turnovers.
The Blue & Gold was a perfect 15-of-15 from the free throw line.
Christian Bliss tallied his third-career 20+ point game with 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting. He added six rebounds and four assists.
Tyler Houser added 16 points.
Justyn Fernandez registered 13 points with five boards and four helpers.
Macon Emory completed the double-digit scorers with 11 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The home team jumped out to a 6-4 lead before the Hens ripped off a 14-3 run over 4:36 to pull ahead 18-9 at the under-12 media break. UD went on a streak connecting on 8-of-10 from the field to widen the gap to 29-17 at the 4:05 mark. The Blue & Gold took a 34-24 lead into the locker room.
A 16-7 advantage in favor of the Aggies made it a one-point game with the Hens ahead six minutes in the second frame. After the hosts went ahead, UD battled back to knot the game a 53 apiece with 7:01 remaining. Trailing 58-57, Delaware scored seven-consecutive points up to the three-minute mark to pull ahead 64-58. The Hens held steady with the 9-6 advantage the rest of the way.

GAME NOTES

Delaware moves to 102-27 under Martin Ingelsby when holding opponents under 70 points and 125-38 when leading at halftime.
