Cherisier Ties Career-High 24 Points as Women’s Basketball Defeats No. 9 Kennesaw State, 66-47, in First-Ever CUSA Basketball Postseason Appearance

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team took down No. 9 Kennesaw State, 66-47, in the first round of the 2026 Air National Guard Conference USA Basketball Championship, inside Propst Arena on Tuesday. The Fightin' Blue Hens move on to face the No. 1 seed LA Tech tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware shot 90.9-percent (10-for-11) from the free throw line.
- Ande'a Cherisier tied her career-high of 24 points on 8-of-18 shooting and 8-for-9 from the charity stripe. It was the junior's 22nd double-digit point game of the year. She neared a double-double, adding nine rebounds in the outing.
- Ella Wanzer scored 17 points on 5-of-10 from long range, her eighth time in double figures this season.
- Lay Fantroy corralled 10 rebounds, her 16th-career double-digit rebound game.
- Trinity Vance had a career-high six assists, passing the mark of five she set just one game ago at Liberty.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wanzer scored the first-six points of the game for UD off of two three-pointers. Delaware held a 10-5 lead at the game's first timeout with 2:52 remaining in the opening frame. Kennesaw State finished the quarter on a 4-0 run, leaving the Blue & Gold with a one-point advantage heading into the second.
- Both teams traded five points in the quarter by the time it reached the media timeout as the Hens led 15-14 with 4:42 to go in the half. UD outpaced the Owls 16-14 in the second quarter to take a 26-23 lead into the locker room at the break.
- An 11-0 run for the Blue & Gold allowed Delaware to take a 12-point lead, its largest lead of the game to that point. The Hens held a 37-27 advantage at the third quarter media timeout with 4:40 to go in the frame. The run for Delaware grew to 22-2 as UD led 48-27 heading into the fourth after outscoring KSU 22-4 in the third.
- Delaware and KSU went back-and-forth in the final frame with the lead reaching as high as 24 as the Hens held on for the commanding win.
GAME NOTES
- UD held KSU to four points in the third quarter, marking the third time this season that Delaware held a fellow CUSA team to four points in a quarter. The mark also ties the fewest points allowed in a quarter in the Sarah Jenkins era.
- The 19-point victory was the largest win by a team in the first round of the CUSA Championship since UTEP defeated FAU, 95-67, on March 11, 2020.
- The win was the largest for Delaware in a conference tournament since taking down Hofstra, 60-39, on March 12, 2021.
