DALLAS – University of Delaware women's golf sophomore Kate Roberts has been named the Energy Transfer Conference USA (CUSA) Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. It is the first-career weekly award for Roberts and recognizes her performance at The Nashville Invitational.
Playing as an individual, Roberts claimed runner-up honors with a 2-over par 218 at The Nashville Invitational, hosted by Lipscomb. The sophomore had four birdies in her opening round as she turned in an even-par 72. She finished with nine total birdies as she never carded higher than a 1-over 73 in any round. Her 2-over par 218 is the Phoenixville, Pa., native's best-career overall finish in the field and score to par. It's also Roberts' second top-10 finish of the season, and first-career runner-up.
Delaware won the team title, holding on for a five-stroke victory with a three-round score of 18-over par 882 to finish atop the 16-team field. Hunji Kim and Marissa Malosh both tied for third overall at 3-over par 219. It is the second win of the season for the Fightin' Blue Hens after also winning the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in October.
Roberts becomes the third Blue Hen this season to be named CUSA Golfer of the Week, joining Mary Grace Dunigan (Sep. 24) and Rhianna Gooneratne (Oct. 22).
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will head back to the First State to take on Navy in a match play event on Saturday, March 28. Individuals from both teams will play a one-on-one format for 18 holes at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington.
