Powers Records 12th-Career Hat Trick as Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Binghamton, 9-4

NEWARK, Del. — The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team took down Binghamton, 9-4, on Saturday at Delaware Stadium. The Fightin' Blue Hens improved to 2-7, while the Bearcats fell to 2-7.

HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- Brendan Powers tallied three goals for his 12th-career hat trick and third of the season.
- Tyler Owings and Keegan Lathrop each tied a career high with two goals and recorded career bests with three points apiece. Owings extended his point streak to four games.
- Hank D'Ambrogi added a goal and an assist for two points.
- Colton Silverstein recorded his first-career victory, allowing a career-low four goals and recording a career-best .667 save percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens jumped out to an early 3-0 lead less than three minutes into the contest with goals from Owings, Powers, and Lathrop. UD continued its offensive onslaught with two more tallies from Lathrop and Powers towards the end of the first quarter to increase its lead to 5-0.
- The Bearcats found the back of the net with a quick goal less than two minutes into the second quarter to bring the score to 5-1. The Hens restored their five-goal lead with another goal from Owings. The visitors added two more goals late in the quarter to reduce the Delaware lead to 6-3 going into halftime.
- Powers, D'Ambrogi, and Jason Kolar added three-consecutive tallies coming out of halftime to increase the Blue & Gold's advantage to six at 9-3.
- Binghamton scored the lone goal in the final frame with UD holding on for the victory.
GAME NOTES
- UD improved to 45-3 when allowing nine or fewer goals under Ben DeLuca.
- The Blue & Gold moved to 48-19 when scoring first under DeLuca.
- The Hens jumped to 50-13 when leading after three quarters under DeLuca.
