Vuradi Shoots 5-Under Par to Lead Men’s Golf at Mobile Bay Intercollegiate

SEMMES, Ala. – University of Delaware men's golf senior Aryan Vuradi finished in a tie for third place at 5-under par to lead the Fightin' Blue Hens at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of South Alabama. Delaware carded a three-round score of 4-over par 856 to finish fifth in the 13-team field. The two-day, three-round tournament was held at the par-71, 7,158-yard Magnolia Grove Golf Club, Falls Course.

The Blue Hens will be right back in action next week when they make the short trip to Virigina for the Giles-Spratley Collegiate, hosted by the University of Richmond. The two-day, three-round tournament will be held April 6-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens drained 24 birdies during Monday's opening round, including all five players gaining a stroke on the par-5 18th hole, as the team turned in a 2-under par 282.
- The squad followed that up with a 1-under par 283 in the second round, carding 18 more birdies. Overall, the Blue Hens finished with 52 birdies over the 54-hole tournament.
- Vuradi was 8-under par through his first 13 holes and finished with a career-low 66 in the opening round. He then shot a 3-under par 68 in the second round. He finished with 14 total birdies over his three rounds.
- Iampongsai was also under par in his first two rounds, recording nine birdies and shooting scores of 2-under par 69 and 1-under par 70. He also had an eagle during Tuesday's final round as he carded a 1-over par 72.
- Areephun hit four of his 11 total birdies on Tuesday as he turned in a 2-under par 69 to climb 11 spots in the individual standings.
- Itzoe drained 12 birdies over his 54 holes, including five in Monday's second round when shot an even-par 71.
OF NOTE
- Vuradi's 36-hole score of 134 during Monday's two rounds is tied for the fifth-best 36-hole score in program history.
- Vuradi's third-place finish was his best placing of the season and it was his first time finishing under par for a three-round tournament.
