Kolliegbo Scores 1,000th-Career Point as Women’s Basketball Drops Regular Season Finale at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Safi Kolliegbo scored her 1,000th-career point as the University of Delaware women's basketball team fell to Liberty, 71-64, inside Liberty Arena on Friday. The Fightin' Blue Hens drop to 12-18, 6-12 CUSA, while the Lady Flames rise to 17-12, 11-7 CUSA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware outshot Liberty in the contest 49.0-percent to 48.3-percent.
- Kolliegbo tallied her 1,000th-career point, notching five points in the game.
- Lay Fantroy scored in double figures for the 17th time this season, tallying 19 points, including 12 in the first half alone. She added 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the campaign.
- Kailah Correa notched 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, her 15th time above 10 points during her freshman campaign.
- Ande'a Cherisier scored 10 points for her 21st game in double figures this season to go with seven rebounds.
- Trinity Vance poured in 10 points to reach the double-digit threshold for the 15th time this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware struck for the first-five points of the contest on its first-two attempts from the field. The Lady Flames fought back to enter the media timeout trailing 9-8. The two teams sat even at 17 at the end of the first quarter.
- Both teams scored four points in the second heading into the media stoppage, leaving a 21-21 tie with 4:56 to play in the half. UD and Liberty each made four-consecutive field goals as the home team held a 31-30 advantage with 1:32 to go in the second quarter. A seeing-eye pass from Vance led to an easy layup for Fantroy to give Delaware a 32-31 halftime lead.
- Vance opened the second half with a three from the elbow to give Delaware an early four-point advantage. Liberty countered with a 12-5 stretch heading into the third quarter media timeout to take a 43-40 lead with 4:43 to go in the frame. With 2:38 remaining in the third quarter, Fantroy corralled an offensive rebound and put it back plus the foul to put Delaware in front, 46-45. After falling behind by four, Vance nailed a three as the clock ticked down in the third, leaving a one-point deficit for Delaware after three.
- Liberty opened the fourth on an 8-2 run, leading to a Sarah Jenkins timeout with the Hens down 60-53 at the 6:28 mark of the final frame. As Liberty increased its lead to double digits, Delaware called timeout with two minutes left in regulation. A three for Correa cut the deficit to 68-61 as UD used another timeout with 1:06 remaining. Liberty made a layup before Vance drained a three to cut it to six with 42 seconds left. The Lady Flames held off the UD comeback attempt for the remainder of the final minute.
