Two Home Runs From Davis Helps Baseball Defeat Canisius in Seven Innings

NEWARK, Del. - A seven-run fourth inning and a multi-home run game from Vincent Davis helped the University of Delaware baseball program earn a 14-1 win in seven innings over Canisius at Bob Hannah Stadium on Saturday.
The Fightin' Blue Hens overall record improves to 6-9 on the season.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Davis went 3-for-5 with two home runs, five RBIs, and a triple. Jeremy Wolf also had a three hit game, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored two runs.
- LT Cockrill (2-for-4, RBI), Evan Bouldin (2-for-4) and Matthew Minckler (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI) also had multi-hit games.
- Starting on the mound was Chase Deibler. He pitched in four innings, allowed just one earned run, and struck out four batters. The freshman picked up his first win of his collegiate career.
- Ryan Pugh and Evan Lewis pitched the final three innings. The two did not allow any runs or hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Canisius scored the first run of the game in the first inning, the Blue Hens had a three-run second inning.
- The rally started with good heads up base running by Jeremy Wolf, who beat out a rundown between the third baseman, catcher, pitcher and first baseman. Anthony DeCesare and Sal Mineo also drove in a run, DeCesare drove in a run off a sacrifice fly, and Mineo's was off a ground out.
- In the bottom of the third, Wolf drove in Davis to extend the lead to 4-1.
- The seven run fourth inning started with a Cockrill RBI single, along with Davis's first run home run of the game, an Anthony Charles RBI double, and finished with a three-run home run from Mincker.
- The following inning, Davis hit a three-run home run to extend the Blue Hen lead to 14-1.
