Matthew Homer Hits Hole-in-One, Men’s Golf Wraps Up Play at Giles-Spratley Collegiate

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Junior Matthew Homer aced the 220-yard seventh hole and the University of Delaware men's golf team tied for ninth place at the 14-team Giles-Spratley Collegiate, hosted by the University of Richmond. The Fightin' Blue Hens turned in a three-round score of 8-over par 872 at the par-72, 7,135-yard Independence Golf Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens drained 45 birdies and two eagles, including M. Homer's hole-in-one over the three rounds. The squad had 16 birdies during Monday's first round when they carded an even-par 288.
- Areephun fired a 2-under par 70 with six birdies in his opening round, and closed the tournament with a 1-under par 71. He finished with 13 total birdies over 54 holes
- Iampongsai also had two rounds under par, starting his week with a 3-under par 69 on Monday. He had an eagle and five of his 10 total birdies on Tuesday as he carded a 1-under par 71.
- Vuradi shot a 1-under par 71 during Monday's second round, burying four of his five total birdies.
- M. Homer finished with five total birdies to go along with his third-round hole-in-one.
UP NEXT
Delaware will return to the course next weekend when it travels to Penn State for the Rutherford Intercollegiate. The Blue Hens will be looking to defend their team title from last spring when they carded a 3-under par 849. The two-day, three-round tournament will be held April 18-19.
