Leath, Ayeni, Earn First Place Finishes at the CUSA Outdoor Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Throws athlete Olamide Ayeni and sprints athlete Lauren Leath from the University of Delaware track & field program both earned first place finishes at the Conference USA Championships from May 14-16.
Ayeni earned a first-place finish in the discus throw at 55.10 meters. Her throw is a new personal best and ranks second in program history. The sophomore from Denton, Texas also won the discus throw in 2025 at the Coastal Athletic Association championships.
Leath won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.43. She is the first athlete in program history to win the event.
The Fightin' Blue Hens finished the championships in eighth place with 50.5 points.
POINT SCORERS
The following athletes scored points at the CUSA Championships:
- Kadence Dumas earned a bronze medal and placed third overall in the 800-meters with a time of 2:06.29. It is a new personal best and ranks second all-time.
- Taylor Stone earned a fourth-place finish with a mark of 1.65 meters.
- Nubia Evans-Shields was fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 51.56 meters. The mark ranks fourth in program history and is a new personal best.
- Rachel Starr was fifth overall in the women's 10,000-meter run at 36:13.29.
- The women's 4-by-400-meter relay team of Morgan Mims, Dumas, Jordan Blanck and Leath we're fifth at 3:42.18. Their time ranks second all-time in program history.
- Erin McGoey was eighth in the 3,000-meter steeple chase with a time of 10:48.44.
- Rachel Schmitt was eighth in the javelin throw with a mark of 43.76 meters
