BOSTON – Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) has announced the 2026-27 conference schedule for the University of Delaware ice hockey team. The Fightin' Blue Hens enter their second season and will play 24 conference games in AHA play, with home-and-home two-game series against each of the league's six other teams.
The conference slate can be seen HERE. The full 2026-27 ice hockey schedule will be released at a later date.
Delaware will open conference play with a home series against Lindenwood, October 3-4, at Fred Rust Ice Arena. The Blue hens defeated the Lions, 5-3, in Newark last season behind two first-period goals from Kaitlin Finnegan including a shorthanded tally with 1.2 seconds on the clock. Victoria Borg and Kacey Blum both scored their first-career goals and Meera Smith sealed the win with an empty-netter. Charlotte Payne made 32 saves in goal, including 19 in the third period.
The Blue & Gold will head out on the road for consecutive road series in New York, traveling to RIT for two games (Oct. 9-10) and at Syracuse (Oct. 31-Nov. 1). Delaware played a pair of one-goal games against the Orange last season, including an overtime loss that gave UD its first-ever AHA point in the standings.
Delaware returns home for back-to-back weekend series against Mercyhurst (Nov. 6-7) and Robert Morris (Nov. 12-13). The Blue Hens took the Lakers to overtime last fall when they were receiving votes thanks to a Lexie Lonask goal in the final seconds. UD and Robert Morris met in last season's AHA playoffs. Finnegan and Francesca Barresi gave the Hens a 2-0 lead in the second period, but the Colonials came back to eliminate Delaware in overtime.
The Blue Hens will travel to Penn State (Nov. 19-20) before opening the second half of league play at home against RIT (Dec. 4-6).
Following the holiday break, Delaware will hit the road for away series at Lindenwood (Jan. 8-9) and Robert Morris (Jan. 22-23), sandwiched around a home series against Syracuse (Jan. 15-16) at Fred Rust.
Delaware will close out its home slate against Penn State (Jan. 29-30) before wrapping up AHA play at Mercyhurst (Feb. 6-8).
The Blue Hens wrapped up their inaugural season with an appearance in the AHA Championship. Delaware recorded the first win in program history with a 2-1 victory over Holy Cross on October 5, a program that spent time in the national rankings, and picked up its first AHA win with a 5-3 decision over Lindenwood on November 14. The Blue Hens earned two AHA Rooke of the Week honors and Finnegan was the recipient of the AHA Individual Sportsmanship Award.
