Women’s Lacrosse Adds Madison Sweeney

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team has added its first transfer of the offseason as Madison Sweeney has signed with the program, head coach Amy Altig announced on Tuesday. Sweeney, an attacker from Stamford, Connecticut, joins the Fightin' Blue Hens after playing the past two seasons at UConn where she helped lead the Huskies to the Big East semifinals each year and a pair of wins over ranked opponents.

Bio: Four-year starter and two-time captain at Stamford High School… Helped lead Stamford to a regional championship in 2021 and 2022… Set high school records for goals (212), assists (116) and points (328)… Named All-FCIAC Honorable Mention in 2021 and 2022 and first team in 2023 and 2024… Earned all-state second team honors in 2024… Selected as Stamford's Rookie of the Year (2021), Impact Player of the Year (2022), and Most Valuable Player (2023, 2024)… Named to the 2024 American Select All-Tournament Team and the American Select Second Team… Played club lacrosse for the CT Grizzlies Lacrosse Club, helping lead the squad to a No. 2 national ranking in 2024… Was also a four-year starter on the field hockey team… In the classroom, earned honors with distinction in every quarter of high school and was a member of the National Honors Society… Has a twin sister, Peyton.
