NEWARK, Del. - 11 newcomers will be joining the University of Delaware men's soccer team ahead of the 2026 season, head coach Tommy McMenemy announced Monday. Seven freshmen are joined by four transfer students.
"This is an exciting and diverse class in terms of both positions and playing style, and I'm confident that each player will positively impact our program and culture in a unique way," McMenemy said. "The added depth and quality these young men bring will hopefully push our level as a squad in both training and games. As always, our staff has worked extremely hard to make sure that every player we bring in is aligned with the character requirements of our program, and we're confident that each new student-athlete will represent the Blue Hens in a way that makes our university proud."
Diego Acosta | D | Reisterstown, Md. | Pipeline SC | Loyola Blakefield
Acosta joins the Hens from Loyola Blakefield where he spent his junior and senior year as a starter. There he was a two-time MIAA Champion (2024 and 2025). Prior to Loyola Blakefield, Acosta started for Franklin High School during his freshman and sophomore years. He also played for Pipeline ECNL and was named First Team All-ECNL in 2022.
"Diego also comes to us from Pipeline SC and is an attacking full back who can play on both sides," McMenemy said. "He has good instincts and solutions to help us bypass a high press, and his technique makes him an attacking threat from the flanks."
German Argueta | M | Silver Spring, Md. | DC United | SAI Academy
Argueta joins the University of Delaware after a successful time at DC United. The attacking midfielder has had experience with DC United's first team, while also earning multiple call-ups on the international stage, featuring for the U15, U17, and U20 El Salvador National Team.
"German brings great pedigree from his time with DC United's academy," McMenemy said. "He is an incisive attacker who can create and score from both central and wide areas. His ball carrying and vision are exceptional, and his sharp movement after the pass makes him very difficult to defend."
Mason Booz | M | Mohnton, Pa. | FC Delco | High Point Baptist Academy
The four-year high school starter comes to UD from High Point Baptist Academy where he tallied 84 goals and 86 assists in his career and won three conference championships (2023, 2024, and 2025). Booz also played for FC Delco and was a member of the 2024 MLS Next Cup Championship team.
"Mason is an FC Delco product and has a ton of experience playing in big games with that team," McMenemy said. "He is a gifted dribbler with great athletic potential, and can excel both in wide areas and in attacking midfield. A great ball-striker with both feet, Mason is a goal threat in and outside the box."
Frederik Flaskager | F | Kolding, Denmark | Penn State
The Kolding, Denmark native transfers to UD after spending the 2025 season at Penn State where he was named to the Dean's list in both the fall and spring semesters. Prior to Penn State, Strømdahl Flaskager was a four-year starter in high school and registered 50+ goals at his youth club Vejle Boldklub. He was 3rd in scoring in the top Youth soccer league in Denmark, while helping VSK reach promotion in 2025.
"Frederik adds some great college experience after his time at Penn State, and he can contribute anywhere in the front three," McMenemy said. "He's a powerful runner with good speed and is a capable finisher with both feet. His talent and versatility will offer us some welcome options in how we can set up our attack, and his work rate out of possession will help us on our press."
Jacob Gensel | D | Hartford County, Md. | Pipeline SC | John Carroll High School
The Maryland native comes to the 302 from John Carroll High School where he was a three-year starter and a captain his senior year. The defender was a regular starter for Pipeline SC, where he played his club career.
"Jake is a tough, intelligent player who can fit a number of positions on the left-side," McMenemy said. "He has an excellent left foot and is a threat with his passing, both long and short. He has an edge to his game that we love and brings a winning mentality from an excellent Pipeline SC team."
Jayden Jackson | M | Edison, N.J. | Temple University
Jackson transfers to Delaware from Temple where he was named to the Philly 6 Rookie Team of the Year, AAC Defensive Player of the Week, and All-AAC Honorable Mention. Prior to playing for the Owls, he was a three-time All-State, four time All-Conference, three-time All-GMC County, two-time MVP, and Rookie of the Year for Edison High School. Jackson was also a three-year starter for Matchfit Academy from 2020-2023.
"Jayden arrives with a wealth of experience following his three years at Temple," McMenemy said. "He has a phenomenal work rate in and out of possession, and a natural sense to break up opposition attacks. While he is most comfortable as a defensive midfielder, his selflessness makes him an asset in several possessions including full-back and center-back."
Luke Jones | F | Cape Charles, Va. | Beach FC (VA) | Northampton High School
The four-year high school starter and three-year captain comes to Delaware from Northampton High School. Jones earned All-State honors four years in a row and was three-time state champion. In 2025-2026, Jones was named Virginia's 1A Player of the Year and First-team honors.
"Luke is a number nine coming to us from a very successful Beach FC team," McMenemy said. "He has scored goals at every level and has a natural sense of how to be in the right place at the right time. He has excellent ability in the air for a young player, which will give us an extra dimension as an attacking threat."
Seamus Lannon | M | Havertown, Pa. | FC Delco | Haverford High School
Lannon joins the Blue Hens from Haverford High School where he was a two-year starter and captain. He was named First Team All-Delco and First Team All-Main Line and was a member of the 2025 district championship team. Lannon also played for FC Delco for seven years and earned a MLS Cup Championship in 2024.
"Seamus was a key part of the FC Delco team who won the MLS Next U16 national championship 2 years ago," McMenemy said. "He has continued to excel since then and brings a winning mentality with him thanks to his experience. He is a winger who can play on either flank and is relentless and direct in his style. He is a constant goal threat as his record shows, and creates a ton of chances for his teammates."
Oliver Reece | GK | Gaithersburg, Md. | Loudon United FC | ASU Global Academy
Reece joins the Blue Hens from Loudon United where signed an academy contract with the USL Championship side. Prior to Loudon, Reece made appearances in the U19 Nachwuchsliga/Bundesliga side, SV Meppen, while boasting a 75 percent shutout rate in 2025. Reece took his courses at ASU Global Academy where he was named Student Athlete of the Year.
"Oliver is a young goalkeeper who is talented with not only his shot-stopping abilities, but also his ability to play with the ball at his feet," goalkeeper coach Darian McCauley said. "His international experience with SV Meppen and experience with Loudon United in the USL Championship gives him experience and the exciting potential to continue to grow on his well balanced game."
Braeden Sorensen | GK | Ephrata, Pa. | Saint Francis (PA)/Lock Haven
Sorensen transfers to Delaware after spending the 2025 season at Saint Francis where he appeared and started in four matches. The goalkeeper recorded a career-high eight-save game against Maryland and tallied 360 minutes on the season. Prior to Saint Frances, he spent two seasons at Lock Haven. In high school, Sorensen was a two-time Lancaster Lebanon League (LL League) Section II Champion (2021 and 2022), a two-time LL League First Team All-Star, a Second Team All-Star, LL League Section II MVP, and the LL League Section II Player of the Year.
"Braeden joins the goalkeeper core from St. Francis, bringing experience of playing in big games in tough environments," McCauley said. "Braeden is a well-rounded goalkeeper with a great presence in net. His ability to command the box and simplify the game matches what we strive for our goalkeeper core to have."

He was also a member of the 2021 Middlesex League Championship team and Co-Championship Team in 2020.
"Eric is an experienced goalkeeper and will bring great maturity to our goalkeeper core," McCauley said. "He is an outstanding shot stopper, with great ability to defend the space and area. Eric reads the game extremely well and is proven in his decision making in and out of possession."
