Men's Soccer Ties Three Apiece with Penn

PHILADELPHIA– The University of Delaware men's soccer team tied with Penn 3-3 on the road on Tuesday night.
With the tie, the Fightin' Blue Hens overall record becomes 3-2-3 on the season.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Sean Smith scored in the 27th minute of play off of an assists from Emmett Kershner.
- Kershner put UD ahead with his 31st-minute goal, assisted by Edwin Flores.
- Freddy Jeffreys scores his third penalty kick goal this season in the 81st minute.
- Eric Widrick made five saves in goal in his eighth start for Delaware.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Penn opened up the scoring in the 22nd minute of play.
- Just over five minutes later, Delaware answered with Smith's first-career goal.
- Kershner then put the Hens ahead 2-1 in the 31st minute of the first half.
- However, the Quakers balanced the score at two heading into the locker room.
- Penn also scored the first goal half two to take the lead at 79:52 on the clock.
- Then Jeffreys knotted the match back up with a penalty kick goal to secure the tie.
GAME NOTES
- Smith's goal is the first of his career.
- Kershner recorded a three-point game with a goal and an assist of his own.
- Jeffreys' penalty kick goal was his third of the season.
