Football Travels to Virginia on Saturday

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team will travel to Charlottesville, Va. for a matchup with the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday, September 26 at 6 p.m. on the ACC Network. This will be the first game between the two schools.

ABOUT THE FIGHTIN' BLUE HENS

The Fightin' Blue Hens enter the contest 2-1, coming off a 22-14 home win over Coastal Carolina.
QB Nick Minicucci leads the team with 814 passing yards and five passing TDs. Against Coastal, Minicucci completed 24-of-32 passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns. It was the senior signalcaller's ninth-career 300-yard passing game. Minicucci's two touchdown passes moved him to 43 for his career, putting him at fifth in program history in career TD passes. Minicucci's 24 completions gives him sole possession of fourth in program history for career completions, passing Matt Nagy. Minicucci's 302 passing yards moves him into seventh place on the UD all-time passing yards list, passing Pat Devlin. It was also his 15th-career 200-yard passing game, moving him into fifth place.
RB Jo Silver is tops on the team with 156 yards on the campaign. He recorded his first rushing TD of the season against the Chanticleers.
WR Sean Wilson paces the team with 18 catches for 288 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson, who was named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week, exploded in Delaware's 22-14 win over Coastal Carolina. The receiver tied his career high of nine catches and two touchdowns, while setting a new career best of 185 receiving yards. His 185 yards are the most in a game under Ryan Carty and is the first 180-plus yard receiving game since Justin Long had 236 receiving yards vs. Maine on October 2, 2004. Wilson's first touchdown catch, which came on a trick-play flea flicker, was featured on NFL Sunday Countdown's 'You Got Mossed Segment' after the Alpharetta, Ga. native jumped over a pair of defenders while getting interfered with to corral the score. The performance marked his fourth-career 100+ yard performance, second 150+ yard outing, and third multi-touchdown game.
LB Gavin Moul leads the Hens with 22 tackles on the year.
BAN Blake Matthews paces the Blue & Gold defense with 2.5 sacks, while being tied with LB Colin Gallagher for the team lead in TFLs (3.0).
Delaware is one of three teams in the country (FAU and Purdue) to have two receivers in the top 35 nationally in receiving yards per game. Wilson is 19th at 96.0 yards per contest, while WR Da'Wain Lofton is 32nd with 86.0.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS

The Cavaliers are 2-1, coming off a 38-27 loss win to West Virginia in the Duke's Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
Virginia is led by fifth-year head coach Tony Elliott, who owns a 24-27 career record.
Former Missouri and Penn State QB Beau Pribula runs the offense for the Cavs, completing 42-of-58 passes for 514 yards and seven touchdowns on the season.
On the ground, Virginia is led by former Middle Tennessee RB Jekail Middlebrook, who has 154 yards and one touchdown through three games.
The Cavs have spread the ball around, with 16 different receivers having caught a pass this season. Former Kent State WR Da'Shawn Martin is the team's leading receiver with 87 receiving yards to go with two TDs.
On defense, CB Jacobie Henderson, a transfer from Rutgers, leads the way with 23 tackles.
