The epitome of the student-athlete, Leah excelled not only in field hockey but in the classroom as well and remains the only person in UD history to be a Top 10 finalist for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
A native of Telford, Pa., Leah played in a school-record 84 career games as a defender for Delaware, starting all but one contest for UD Athletics Hall of Fame head coach Carol Miller. She earned All-Colonial Athletic Association honors twice, was a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Mid Atlantic Region selection three times, and was named a second team NFHCA All-American as a senior in 2004 when she served as a team captain and led the squad to the CAA title and an NCAA Tournament berth.
She also played in the NFHCA North-South Senior All-Star Game and collected 68 career points, including 21 assists (No. 5 all-time at UD). She served as a volunteer graduate assistant coach for UD in 2005-07 and later earned a tryout for the U.S. Under-19 Women’s National Team, making the team as an alternate.
An outstanding student with a near perfect grade point average, she twice was named the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned a spot on the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-American team, and was an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholar Award recipient. She earned both her bachelor’s degree in communications in 2005 and her master’s degree in communications in 2007 from Delaware.
