Ayars comes to Newark as a recent graduate from the University of Louisville. She spent 4 years as a member of the Cardinal's D1 Field Hockey Team. Her time with the Cardinals brought her many accolades, such as:
-All-ACC Academic Team – 2017, 2018, 2019
-All-NFCHA National Academic Squad – 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019
-NFCHA All-American – 2019
-NFCHA All-West Region First Team – 2019
-All-ACC Second Team – 2019
During her time in college, she also spent multiple semesters with the USA FieldCarter Ayars enters her first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Delaware field hockey program during the spring of 2021.
 
Ayars comes to Newark as a recent graduate of the University of Louisville where she was an impactful defender for the field hockey team. She served as a co-captain during her senior year. Some of her many accolades include: 3x All-ACC Academic Team, 4x All-NFCHA National Academic Squad, NFCHA All-American, NFCHA All-West Region First Team, All-ACC Second Team.
 
"Carter will be a great addition to our coaching staff and players group,” says head coach Rolf van der Kerkhof. “Her goal to play for the US National Team, her interest in playing at a premier league level abroad, and her passion for field hockey as a player and young coach make her the perfect fit for the Blue Hens.”
 
When learning of her collegiate accolades, coach van der Kerkhof stated that "her experiences as a University of Louisville All-American will help her as she continues to grow her game and improves Delaware field hockey's performance level."
 
During collegiate career, Ayers spent multiple semesters training with the USA Field Hockey Team. She was a member of the USA Field Hockey Under 21 Team in 2019, and later became a member of the USA Field Hockey Women’s Development Team in 2020.
 
Ayers spent some time in 2017 and recently in 2020 working as a USA Field Hockey Futures Coach, in which she led aspiring field hockey players within the USA Field Hockey pipeline in drills, skill development, and encouragement.
