Ed LeFurge III was promoted to Assistant AD, Communications & Creative Services in July 2024 after being hired as Director, Communications and Creative Services in June 2022. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the communications & creative services team and is the primary contact for the administration, football, and spirit program. At the time of his promotion in July 2024, he was one of the youngest in the country to lead a communications team at or transitioning to the FBS level. Outside of his day-to-day role, he also serves as the sport administrator for the men's tennis program.
During his tenure in Newark, he's worked with a number of the Fightin' Blue Hens' programs including football, men's basketball, field hockey, women's lacrosse, tennis, and spirit, while also spearheading the communications and media relations strategies surrounding the school's transition to Conference USA and FBS football, addition of the varsity women's ice hockey program, transition to seven affiliate conferences, and the hiring of an athletic director.
LeFurge arrived in Newark after a 10-month stay as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia. On Hawk Hill, he worked with women's basketball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's soccer, and men's/women's cross country/track & field. LeFurge also led the department's graphic design efforts and created an internship program within the athletic communications office. Beyond his day-to-day role, LeFurge worked hand-in-hand with the women's basketball staff on all recruiting materials.
During his stay at SJU, he successfully pitched stories to USA Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse as the Hawks' men's lacrosse program went on to claim the NEC Championship for the first time in program history. The women's side also hoisted a conference trophy after claiming the Atlantic 10 Championship for the program's first-ever conference ring.
Prior to his quick trip across the city to St. Joe’s, LeFurge posted a three-year stint at La Salle where he was the contact for women’s basketball, women’s soccer, men's/women's golf, and softball. Outside of his regular responsibilities, LeFurge served as the host of Inside The L: The Podcast. The podcast covered all things La Salle Athletics and provided Explorer fans a behind-the-scenes look on a variety of topics. During the summer of 2021, LeFurge was tasked by the athletic director to create and chair the department’s innovation team, which looked at ways for the athletic department to be more innovative and run smoother. He also chaired the search committee in the hiring process of Kerry Smith as the University’s head men’s and women’s swimming & diving coach.
LeFurge led the working group established to develop the relaunch of GoExplorers.com, which was revealed in September of 2020. The redesigned site features a cleaner, refreshed look with some new features across both web and mobile platforms, including La Salle's new L logo, a fan poll to engage members of the La Salle community, a video platform connected to the department's YouTube channel, and an enhanced student-athlete of the week award section.
Before arriving at La Salle, LeFurge spent the previous 10 months as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Arcadia University. During his time in Glenside, he spent three months overseeing all communications efforts for the Knights' 19 varsity sports while the department searched for a director of athletic communications. LeFurge also traveled to the MAC Commonwealth Championship and NCAA Regionals with the Knights' baseball team.
While at Arcadia, LeFurge helped the department expand its web-streaming services with the creation of the Arcadia Knights Sports Network, serving as the network's play-by-play voice. During the 2017-18 academic year, the network provided a plethora of webcasts for men's basketball, women's basketball, and men's volleyball.
Aside from his sport responsibilities, LeFurge had a seat on the Arcadia Athletic Hall of Fame and Athletic Award Banquet committees. He also sat on the search committee for the director of athletic communications vacancy during the summer of 2018.
Prior to coming to Arcadia, LeFurge spent five years at Temple where he served as the primary contact for women's soccer, and secondary contact for football & women's basketball. He also worked in a support role with most of the Owls' 18 varsity sports.
The Brick, N.J. native also served as a play-by-play voice on OwlsTV, the department's live streaming service, for women's basketball, volleyball, and many other sports. He also served as one of the department's staff writers.
Professionally, he serves on the CollegePressBox Advisory Board, Conference USA Hall of Fame committee, and is a member of the Football Writers Association of America, U.S. Basketball Writers Association, and College Sport Communicators. LeFurge has also served as a media relations volunteer for several NCAA Tournaments, including men’s basketball (2026 first and second rounds, 2022 Sweet 16 and Elite Eight), women’s basketball (2023 first and second rounds), and men’s lacrosse (2024, 2023, 2019 finals and semifinals).
In 2017, LeFurge graduated from Temple with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
